GPPT’s mission is to support and empower families who have children with disabilities.
WE’RE HERE FOR YOU!
GPPT parent volunteers are here for parents and families who may just need to talk to someone who is walking in similar shoes. Raising a child is not easy and even more challenging to raise one with a disability. We know! And we are here to listen, share our experiences and provide available resources to you that may help make it just a little easier.
Guam Positive Parents Together (GPPT) Inc. received funds from UOG CEDDERS to form a Parent Support Group for Parents of D/HH Children, ages 0-3 yrs; form a Parent to Parent Mentor Support Group, (these Parent Mentors have a D/HH child over the age of 3); and finally identify Adult D/HH Role Models, in our Community, to share their stories and encourage Parents of a D/HH child that their child can also be successful member of our Community. As a result of this sub-contact, GPPT formed Project Fitme to administer these services.
Our primary purpose is give Parents, of a newly identified D/HH child, support from another parent who has been there and understands the emotional challenges; provide information and engage our new parents to join our Support Group; empower the parents to advocate for their D/HH child and educate them on how to Navigate the system. We also work closely with other Guam D/HH providers to assist our parents.
